Overview

The central church of the community of Statos - Agios Fotios is dedicated to Christ the Saviour. Its construction began in 1970, when the village was moved and the presence of a new church in the community was necessary and was completed in 1976. The three-section, domed, church of the community was built among the village houses, near the school, at the government's expense and refurbished internally, with several donations. It can comfortably accommodate around 500 believers. Additionally it has a large asphalted courtyard. It is built with stone from the region and with a building plan known as " luki". That is, starting from the ground and around (1st row) from the temple using decorative stone slabs with starting dimensions of 15x15 cm, then continuing to the next row with larger dimensions and repeating this pattern until it covers the whole temple on the outside. The stone bell tower, towering and arched, is adjacent to the rest of the building and has three electronic bells.
